Makeup: Work to Evening in 5 easy steps.

Living in the city you tend to travel from work to evening events, and you can't really wear that scarlet red lipstick and dark eyeshadow for work. I mean you could, but it might shock or even freak some people out, giving you the "what is she thinking" look.

Here are 5 quick and easy steps that can get you looking glamorous in no time, and can be done in any workspace or office bathroom.

1. Pat moisturizer and/or face oil everywhere but your T-zone, over your makeup. Let it soak in for a second.

2. Touch up with concealer.

3. Black eyeliner–liquid, pencil, shadow–especially, sexily, at the outer corners.

4. Your choice of lip color, from nude to fire engine red, whatever makes you feel cool and pretty and festive.

5. Perfume. Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline: When people ask, "What is that?" (it's a   sexy bamboo, nashi, Japanese pear lotus flower and balsa wood concoction), you answer, "Tonight or never." Which is fun.

And now you're out the door, looking glamorous and ready for your evening event.

What are your tips for getting you from work to evening looks?

Pretty in a Pinch

Pretty In A Pinch

Yikes! You left the house without your cosmetics case (but have a few random makeup items floating around in your purse). Now what? Roll into work sans a stitch of makeup? Or head on that weekend get-away with a bare face? Maybe, if you’re brave (make that really brave). Otherwise try these simple ways to look pretty in a pinch!

Left the house without your lip color?
Look pretty in a pinch: “Take a little cream blush and dab it on your pout,” suggests makeup artist Raychel Wade, owner of Cheek to Chic. “The key is to use it sparingly and create more of a stain rather than a full application.”

Left the house without your blush?
Look pretty in a pinch: “I forget blush all the time,” says Wade. “So I revert back to my grandmother’s trick and pinch my cheeks. After all, it’s about looking flushed and healthy.”  Or bend forward at the waist and tip your head upside down like you are shaking your hair out. Do this for twenty seconds or so and when you come back up, your skin will have a rosy little glow.

Left the house without your mascara?
Look pretty in a pinch: You may not have anything to swipe on your lashes, but you can still beautify your eyes. Do so by lining the inside of your eyes with black eye liner. “This will give the illusion that your lashes are longer and your eyes will look more intense,” explains Wade.

Left the house without your brow tools?
Look pretty in a pinch: No worries, your brows can still look beautiful. “I was actually in this pinch this weekend when I was away and forgot all my brow tools,” says Wade.  Use a clean tissue to wipe as much product as possible off your mascara wand, then use it to brush your brows.  “A tiny amount of mascara will be left, which will act like a brow gel,” says Wade.  “Even though the mascara is black, there’s so little on the wand that it works perfectly to shape and darken.”

Left the house without your foundation?
Look pretty in a pinch: Simply use concealer as a foundation to even out your complexion.  “Apply it to all the areas needed—under the eyes, around the nose, on your chin and between your eyes—and you are left with even skin without full coverage,” explains Wade.

Brighten Your Eyes, Fast!

Brighten Your Eyes, Fast!

Chill out

“One way we pay for late nights is with swollen lids and undereye puffiness,” says Christina Zilber, Founder and Creative Director of Jouer Cosmetics. When you wake up, soak a washcloth in icy cold water and rest it over your eyes for a few minutes. “The chill will reduce any inflammation,” Ziber says.

Use a dream cream
Using the tip of your ring finger, gently pat a rich eye cream all around the orbital area. This will minimize the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines (“Without irritating or causing more redness,” Ziber says), and provide a smoother canvas for concealer. Try L’Oréal Age Perfect Eye Ultra-Hydrating Cream.

Turn on the lights
To combat dark undereye circles, “Layer your daily concealer with a light-reflective product,” says Kate McCarthy, a makeup artist for glōminerals. “I prefer a pink or peach tone for the most natural effect.” Try Anastasia Beverly Hills Cooling Eye Brightener, $21, sephora.com.

Reduce redness
Neutralize redness with a thin layer of concealer on your upper lids. “A red eyelid can be a late-night giveaway,” Ziber says. Follow with a sheer layer of shimmery cream shadow in a natural hue to hydrate eyes while making them seem more alert. We like Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Shadow in Sable.

Get in line
For an instant waker-upper, line the inner rims of your upper and lower lashlines with a peach or nude pencil (We like Nars Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Rue Bonaparte). “This will really bring out the whites of your eyes,” McCarthy says.

Highlight strategically
A favorite makeup artist trick used on everyone from runway models to Hollywood startlet is to dab a shimmery white eyeshadow on the inner corners of your eyes and just under the browbone with your pinky finger or a small soft-bristled brush. “It instantly makes you seem refreshed,” McCarthy says. (Try: Jouer Camellia Highlighter.)

Lash out
“Nothing wakes up your eyes more than long, curled lashes!” Slightly warm up your curler with hot air from your hair dryer, then press and hold lashes for about 30 seconds. Finish with a coat of dark black mascara.

How do you fake a full night’s sleep?
